I know a lot of people (my husband) aren't big fans of Valentine's Day but I love it! I think it's fun when all the stores are decked out in red and pink, you get to eat pretty treats, and get all dressed up and go out to celebrate your love! Who doesn't love going on a date on a Tuesday night ?! ;)

Grant has definitely been enjoying testing my patience lately :)

He sure has a sweet tooth like his mom and dad!

He also likes to find my glasses and put them on. Haha it's pretty funny but I realize he probably shouldn't wear them too often or he is really going to need glasses! (My mother reminded us of that constantly growing up...)

But it's so funny when he pushes them up, all nerd like.

He also enjoys pulling Dad's blood tester off the counter...
After all that sugar he is going to need one of those too someday! ;)

He had his 18 month check up last week (even though he will be 19 months on the 5th) and here are his stats:

Weight: 27 lbs

Height: 33 in

75th percentile

(P.S. I realize my picture quality is not that great lately. Blame it on an old point and shoot camera, and a wiggly boy that would rather yell "lemme-see!" and try and look at the other side of the camera than hold still)

YF&R Conference

This past weekend was the Young Farmers and Ranchers Conference in Boise. Brandon and I got to go stay in a hotel in downtown Boise and sweet, sweet Tiffani took care of Grant.

Jerry Kramer was the speaker on the last day. He was a big time NFL player from Idaho that won the first 2 Superbowls. Brandon was pretty excited.

Then, we were REALLY smart and didn't realize the Jazz tickets we bought months ago were for the same weekend. So we drove from Boise to Salt Lake and back to Jerome that night...it was a loong day and I was pretty miserable with a bad head cold. But hey, we're young, right??

Grant is a pretty picky eater..but I can always count on him eating pasta!

This big 18 month old is going to nursery!! He has been doing really great with it. I love peeking through the window and seeing him interact with the other kids, he is getting so old!

I also found him wearing my scarf around the house today...He also loves to brush my hair and say "sooooft" Should I be worried? ;)

Christmas 2011

We had a great Christmas this year!

On the 22nd, Grant and I got to go down to Salt Lake for one of my best friend's from growing up, Sarah's wedding. It was really beautiful but quite cold and windy outside!

We had an awesome view of the temple from the dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
Fun little story for ya:
While waiting for the dinner to start we were letting the kids run around the halls outside of the room where the reception was held (on the 9th floor). I told Chelsea I had to go to the bathroom so we corralled the boys in that direction and then bumped into Liz and Linx. I set Grant down and said "OK, you guys watch him, I'm going to the bathroom" Welp, when I came out of the ladies room everyone is running up to me saying "We can't find Grant!" (once you set him down, he BOLTS off to go exploring) Apparently, everyone thought someone else was watching Grant (no one has claimed responsibility as of yet..)
Anyways, luckily I only had a few minutes to panic until some random girl walks up to me holding Grant saying,"is anyone looking for this kid?" Uh yes, me! She then proceeds to explain that he had GOTTEN ON THE ELEVATOR with them and rode down 9 floors to the lobby! (Filled with hundreds of people because of the lights) Once they got to the lobby and everyone got off, they realized Grant didn't belong to anyone and took him back up to us! Ahhh! I was actually quite calm, but looking back have realized it could have ended very differently. And I will never put a bunch of girls in charge of my child again ;)

Last Sunday our friends had a Christmas party and then we all went out to the lights at the South Hills.

It's just someone's house that they decorate like CRAZY all over their yard...I loved it.

I just wanted to write about my sweet husband tonight. He is the most amazing thing that could've happened to me. (Get ready for the cheese :) Today is just one example of all that he does for me: he wakes up at 6am and goes out into the FREEZING cold to the dairy. Grant usually sleeps until around 9 but today he was up and ready to go at 7:30. We all know I'm NOT morning person so I was not happy with this. I basically just laid him in bed with me and watched cartoons. Then when B came home for breakfast he could tell I was tired and took Grant out for me and fed him and let me sleep another hour. I had a rough day with Grant, he has been doing naughty things lately, not eating anything, follows me around on my heels alll day, and shattered one of my tree ornaments. When B came home from work he changed a poopy diaper (which just occurred, I promise I change my kid's diaper ;) and watched Grant for me so I could shower, (which is rare that I get to shower uninterrupted..Grant is always trying to climb in with me) Then after dinner, I was super frustrated cuz Grant would not eat anything except corn and cheese (suggestions for teaching your baby to not be a picky eater??) and then just started chucking his food all over the kitchen. I was done with it all and just went to my room to be alone. The next thing I know, Brandon has done the dishes, cleaned up, gave Grant his sippy cup, changed his diaper, and was coming in so I could kiss Grant goodnight. As I type this I can hear him singing and rocking Grant to sleep. I get teary eyed just thinking about all he does for me every day and literally without one word of complaint. He is the most selfless person I know and I still have no idea how I got so lucky...and why he wanted to marry this lazy bum :)

It bugs me when girl's seem to be in competition like "No, I have the best husband ever!" We all obviously think that about our husbands. But mine is just perfect for me :)

We got to spend Thanksgiving Day with the Andersen's in Burley. It was a full house, as always, but lots of chaotic fun!

Alright, I know I'm super behind on the blog and have lots to catch up on, but I just wanted to pop in and let all my sistas out there know that I have found the BEST foundation! My friend, Amber, from hair school had blogged about it, so I thought I best try it out and I LOVE IT. It's called "Revlon Photo Ready" and it makes your skin look so even, creamy, and just gorg. Oh and it has SPF 20 in it, cuz we all know you need to wear sunscreen EVERY DAY...riiight? People compare it to MAC's foundation, which most of us can't afford! I got mine at Target, give it a whirl.

Last weekend we got to go down to Provo for the BYU Homecoming festivities. My parents and most siblings were there too. Friday night I was able to go to The Spectacular with my parents and sisters and Saturday we went to the parade. I wasn't too great about taking pics, so I had to steal some from you, Ash ;)

In case you haven't heard, we're pretty much obsessed this boy :)

Can't believe he will be 15 months old next week!
I wanted to document some of the things he does these days...

*Pretty much walking but he's a scaredy cat and would rather me hold his hand or just crawl

*Says: hi, hello, night night, Dada (a LOT), Mama, thank you, uh oh, kitty, up, down, more, dog, ball, ba-ba, yeah, nana (banana)

*The friendliest boy you'll ever meet. Says "Hii!" and waves to EVERYONE

*Is HORRIBLE in church, but loves to dance to the music and pretend he is leading the music, and folds his arms during the prayer :)

*Pretty much given up on baby food

*Loves ANY kind of music, or anything that makes sound, and dances to it

*Always hummin' a little tune

*Loves to read books

*Loves to crawl up and down the stairs
*Loves balls! Has to point out anything and everything in the shape of a ball

*Calls any kind of animal, and babies, a "kitty"

*Likes to go on boat rides and never whines about having his life jacket on
*Loves cell phones and calling Dada. And makes a phone out of anything, holds it up to his ear and says "Hi! Yeah? Hi!"

*Becoming a Daddy's boy, and every time the door opens he just knows it's Dada coming home

*Usually sleeps 12 hours a night

*Loves being outside, going on walks in the stroller, going down the slide and on the swings

*Still has to have a binky to fall asleep....we're workin' on it

*Takes two 1 hour naps a day

*Gives slobbery, open mouth kisses :)

He is at such a fun stage and we love him more every day!

Such A Fiasco.

So, I've gotsta tell ya'lls about my fiasco of a day on Wednesday. In the afternoon, Grant and I went to a picnic in the park with some friends which was lots of fun. Afterwards, it was close to Grant's nap time but I figured I better go into Wal Mart (my FAV place ;) while I'm in town (remember how we live 20 min away). So while I'm there I called my sis Ashlee for a recipe (usually have to call at least one of my sister's while I'm there to remind me of ingredients) and she asked if I had seen the Facebook post her husband Jeff left on my wall... told her I hadn't seen it yet..and she said that it was about a Dyson vacuum for sale on Woot.com! This is one of those daily deal sites that sells one electronic item for a super great price for only one day. I knew Jeff and Ashlee had bought one on there years ago, and I had told Jeff to keep a look out for me! This being because the vacuum we got for our wedding is a piece of junk (was supposed to be a nice Bissell, but has never worked that great) and after cleaning and cleaning every stupid part of it, I was pretty sure our carpet was dirtier AFTER I vacuumed. And let me tell you, I lost sleep over it. Our precious child crawling on our not so clean carpets...eek! Anyways, I hurried and finished my shopping and rushed home so I could buy one before they were sold out. Meanwhile, Brandon is down in the canyon golfing with John, where he doesn't get great cell service so I keep calling and calling, trying to get a hold of him to see if I can, in fact, buy the Dyson! Well he never answers, so I figure okay, I better just buy the thing before they're gone, and I knew he would say yes, because it's all I talk about ;) Just as I'm about to buy one, he calls me back. I explain the sitch (situation ;) and he's all "Welllll I dunno, I'll look at it when I get home" and I'm all "Noooo deary, they are going to be GONE! We have to get it now! Trust me, I know what I'm doing!" and after some bickering back and forth he finally says "Linds, what if I already bought you one?" and I'm all "Say whaaaat?"

So, apparently he had seen the Facebook post from Jeff and had been trying to get a hold of him to take it off, because he was going to buy me one for Christmas! OOOPS! I'm horrible at being surprised! I could tell Brandon was kinda bummed that he had to tell me (cuz he knew I would be so mad if just said no!) but I was so happy he got one! (And that he called me back before I bought one myself!)

Good news: I'm getting my Dyson. All of my wildest dreams have come true.

Bad news: No surprises at Christmas for me (yes, I'm making him give it to me before ;)

Oh and the story doesn't end there.....after I hang up with him I get a text from my friend that I saw at Wal Mart saying "is that you that they keep calling over the loud speaker??" And I'm thinking to myself..why would they be calling my name? And then it hits me. I left my diaper bag in the cart after I had loaded Grant in, because I was in such a hurry to get home! So I call my friend and she's like "Yeah, they've said you're name like three times." Embarrassing. But they wouldn't let her take it home...cuz she's not me. So I call Wal Mart, and they're all in a tissy that I need to come get it! Welp folks, I just drove the 20 miles home, I'm not turning around and going back to the place I hate most ;) I tell them my husband will be driving by there in a few hours, could he pick it up? Nope. Then I remember that a guy in our ward is a manager there and I actually talked to him while I was shopping. So I told them that I knew him, (I get the name dropping from my mother) and they were like "Oh yeah, that's totally fine then, just have your husband tell them you know him..."

Good news: There are actually good people still in this world that will turn in a lost bag (with my whole life in it)

Bad news: During this whole ordeal I had left some groceries in the car that wouldn't melt or anything so I could hurry and get on the computer. Well, when I went back out to finish bringing them in, one of our devilish cats (no, not the one that got let in our house while we were at Lake Powell and peed and pooped all over my house/bed....the other one) had climbed up in the car and gotten into the coveted Grandma Sycamore bread and was eating it!! Nashty! So I had to throw away like 1/4 of a new loaf of bread. Oh the humanity.

We all know I love Lake Powell, with all mah heart. This year almost my whole family (will we ever all be together again?) got to go on a big 'ol trip with our own fancy houseboat (hot tub included) and 2 other families (each with own houseboats) It was crowded, with 27 on board at one time but was a BLAST to say the least. (No babies allowed so Grant spent the week at Grandma Andersen's with his favorites: Joelle and Oreo the dog! We missed him terribly but it was a nice vacay!)

Adam and Meghan

We got to go down to Utah this past weekend for Adam and Meghan's wedding! Adam was Brandon's roommate while we dated at Liberty Square, and Adam's brother is married to Brandon's sister, Katie...so we're practically family! We love Adam like our son and are so happy for him and grateful we were able to be apart of such a special day. We were the ONLY non family members in the sealing, so we felt pretty special :)

First Father's Day

I could not have drawn up a better father for Grant. I am amazed everyday.

I was in labor for over 8 hours and had to push for almost 3. Brandon was by my side every second, encouraging me. He was SO excited when Grant finally arrived.

Grant had to be rushed to the NICU and Brandon stayed by his side.

Brandon went through a lot the next few days. Having your wife rushed to emergency surgery, then in the ICU, while your baby is in the NICU probably wasn't a walk in the park.

He took such good care of Grant while Mommy was sick. I will never be able to fully express my gratitude for him being there while I couldn't. I think I changed 1 diaper the whole week we were in the hospital (and no, it wasn't the nurses, it was Brandon!)

I was so weak for the next few months and Brandon was so supportive. He took care of Grant every other night, even though he had to get up at 6 am for work. I was so upset and ashamed that I wasn't able to nurse, and Brandon didn't even think twice about it and told me it was completely fine.
I know so many people who's husbands never change their kid's diapers, or offer to babysit, or put the kids to bed. Brandon is the complete opposite. I would feel so comfortable leaving Grant with Brandon for any amount of time because I know he would probably take better care of him than me ;) Just last night, I went to bed with a really soar throat and Brandon got up with Grant at 4, 5 and 6am while I slept. And today was the first day he has taken off (and would've been able to sleep in) in months!

He and Grant BOTH get so excited when they see the other walk into the room. I just love watching them play and snuggle.

I am so grateful to be married to such a loving, sweet, hard working, gentle man. And for the example that he is to Grant of what a REAL man is.

On Memorial Day we followed tradition and went over to Preston.

The weather was really yucky, wet and rainy so they stayed in the car!

Is it a surprise to anyone anymore that Brandon gave me tickets to AZ for my birthday again? It will always be the best gift ever! We got to go the first week of May and overlapped a few days with Chelsea. After a 2 1/2 hour drive, 5 hour delay at the airport, and another 45 min drive, we finally made it to my parents house!

It's been a little while so I thought I would catch you all up on what's been goin on around the Andersen home...

Brandon- Played on 3 different basketball teams at once. Won the Jerome City League basketball championship. Busy being the 1st counselor in the Young Mens. Trying to stay warm and dry in the horrible "Idaho spring." Got to go to Reno for a dairy conference then Vegas for the Mountain West tournament. And being the best dad and husband in the world ;) Example: he just walked in the door with a Snickers ice cream bar for me

Lindsay- Made some new friends that have gotten me into sewing and crafting (pics to come) About to start a quilt for Grant! Been doing hair quite a bit, actually..usually just girl's in my stake that have heard through the grape vine that I do hair. Just got back from a fun few days in Boise with 3 of my sisters. CRAVING the sun!! Teaching the 10&11 year old girl's primary class and loving it. Changing diapers and cuddling with my baby boy :)

Grant- Busy being the cutest baby ever. He is seriously the best baby. So happy and smiling all the time (although he has his moments ;) Amber said she'd have a 100 more kids if they were all like Grant, so would I! (Let's all remember what I went through getting that boy to this earth..so I think I deserve the best baby ;) Rolling all over the place. Has 2 bottom teeth. Still loves his jumper. Taking at least 3 naps a day and sleeping through the night. Getting bigger and taller against Mom's wishes.

So, contrary to all the complaining you might hear from me (the cold weather, living in the middle of nowhere, money...) we are REALLY loving life!!

I was a very lucky girl this Valentine's. I got to spend it with 2 of the sweetest, most handsome boys in the world!

After having to take Grant to get his 2nd flu shot (not so fun) we went to dinner at Johnny Carino's (if you live by one, you have to go on a Monday night! They have their family platters for half off. We got 1 diet coke, 2 salads, a huge platter of chicken parmigiana and spaghetti, and dessert for 25 bucks!)

We took a fun, quick trip down to Utah this past weekend. We drove to Orem Friday night and had dinner at our fav, Bangkok Grill. We then stayed the night at Mikey and Shiann's again (thanks guys!) Saturday, Brandon got to go to the BYU vs. UNLV game while Grant and I met up with some friends for lunch and shopping!
Brandon's parents, Joelle, and Ben were at the game too and Norma was so kind to drive Grant home with her to Burley while the rest of us went to the Jazz Game!
Then we drove all the way home...making stops in Declo and Burley. Didn't get home till 2 am but it was worth it :)

This sweet (and slobbery) boy turned 6 months old on the 5th.

Seriously?!?! It seems like just yesterday that we brought him home!!

Loves to chew on the those chubby fingers...his 2 bottom teeth are so close to pokin through!
6 month stats:
Weight- 19.75 lbs (75th%)
Height- 28 in (90th%)
(Brandon was very pleased when I told him he had grown 4 inches in 2 months. He now refers to Grant as his "tall boy")
He can sit up and roll over (when he feels like it) and loves to jump, "talk" and squeal.
He also takes at least 4 naps during the day and sleeps 9-11 hours at night!
He is such a good baby and we feel very blessed.

The doc says he is the perfect size....for a 9 month old ;)
But he is healthy and perfect and doesn't even need a 9mo check up!

Ok, so this is old news....but

I PASSED MY IDAHO STATE BOARDS!

(this means I am a licenced cosmetologist)

I was supposed to take my tests a long time ago but kept having problems so it was so nice to get them over with! I had to take a 4 hour practical test first, which I was seriously a hot mess during. I was at station #1A which was front row, right by the instructors station and I was SO NERVOUS. I had practiced a ton before, but for some reason could not get a hold of myself and was pretty sure that I had failed.

Then I had to take a 90 minute written test which was actually quite easy.

After 8 days of waiting in agony, I finally found out that I passed!

This is what my kitchen looked like for 2 weeks

It's great to feel legit now, and know that I can go work in a salon if I needed to. (I am so lucky, that Brandon can support our family right now, and I get to stay at home with Grant)

So, no more free haircuts, people! I have spent a lot of time and money on learning this profession, and because I'm not working in a salon, I'd like to get SOME reward for my work.(Did I mention that I did 8 family members hair at Thanksgiving for F-R-E-E ;)

We were lucky enough to get 6 tickets to the MoTab & David Archuleta concert (they had 1.5 million requests) on Sunday morning. It was my first night away from Grant and it was hard!

John and Caroline were nice enough to take him for the night, luckily he slept till 8am!

We went to our fav restaurant "Bangkok Grill" in Orem and stayed at the Hancocks. We stayed up way too late, and had to get up at 6 the next morning!

We got to fly down to beautiful, sunny, warm Arizona for Thanksgiving! I had literally been counting down the days for months. I never thought I would miss AZ this much, but it hurts my heart to just think about how long it will be till we are reunited again...

Grant did awesome on all of the flights. He either slept the whole time, or just sat on my lap.

Anyways, I wasn't very good about taking pictures, but here are a bunch of random ones..and most of them I stole from Ashlee!

And we luckily got it the day before the huge snow storm or I really would have sat in my house all winter long.

For the Young Men's campout they put on a neat presentation for the boys in the canyon where they walked through the wilderness and met "the prophets of the Book of Mormon"

It was intense! He had to memorize a 2 page speech, go to 2 dress rehersals, be fitted for his costume, and apparently the lady who they had make the costumes has a Masters degree in costume design so she took it very seriously!

A few weeks ago we stopped at a house to buy some sweet corn. We got out of the car and left Grant inside because we were standing right next to it, buying the corn. A few minutes later we hear a big crash and turn around to find a big white truck had backed into our car...with my new baby in the back seat!! I pretty much freaked out and sprinted over to the car. Grant was crying (he could have been before the car got hit). He was fine, but I'm sure it scared him. (Not as much as his Mama though!) Luckily the guy was going very slow and there wasn't TOO much damage. He felt awful and gave us all his info.

It turned out to be not so bad, though, cuz his insurance provided this SWEET rental car while ours was in the shop. It was a brand new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee..and I was in love. I seriously want this to be my next car.

We told the guys to take their time with our car, but sadly in was ready in only a few short days.

(My poor Mom has a really bad knee and can't even walk right now, she is getting it replaced this week so she wasn't able to come. She was greatly missed)

We randomly discovered that my Dad's first cousin, David Egbert, is in our ward. This is his father, Francis Egbert who is my Grandma Moyes' brother! (Did ya get all that?)

2 years ago, today, I married my best friend. Especially after everything we went through together a month ago, I love him even more than I did on 08-08-08.
